I have read the Article,"To Kill or Not To Kill" by Patricia Smith about how Americas solution for humane punishment is starting to fade into torturous suffering. This article shows me that there have been recent sightings that executions have been having efficiency problems. The victims have been taking longer to pass on, resulting to long lasting pain. This puts the question, if we should keep executing our wrongdoers or if we should find a more humane punishment for our wrongdoers. But, before others agree to that, they need to understand exacly how horrible and painful the last couple executions have been.
One example of a horrible execution is the execution that took place in 1999. A man named Lockett was sentenced to death for killing and burying a 19 year old woman. However, during his execution, they gave him a leathal injection, but the untested drug combination of a sedative and paralyzingly agent had failed. Thirty minutes later, he died of a heart attack. Lockett's lawyer, Dean Sanderford said, "It looked like torture". This shows how incredibly dangerous this method of torture is.
Also, another example of how horrible the last few executions have been was in July, it took nearly two hours in Arizona to execute Joseph R. Wood by lethal injection: a reporter counted 640 gasps before the convicted murderer finally died. "It just looked horrible". said the reporter visiting the execution of Joseph R. Wood. This example shows yet another flaw with the way the government tries to deal with criminals with their own so called humane punishment. The author put these examples in the text to show us that the way the government handles the corrupted citizens in our society is wrong and we as the people need to demand a new humane way to bring punishment to the criminals of tomorrow.
In conclusion, this article showed me that the execution devices we use today are to dangerous. They are unstable and if we continue to use these execution devices, we will be doing nothing but torturing the people to death. I think the executions should be stopped. I don't know if I have anything to say about my life that can relate to the article that I have read, but I hope that one day things will change and the government will come to their senses and find a better way to bring justice to the criminals we know today. This article made me think about our society differently and makes me hope for change swiftly. I hope you, the reader of this text, will think the same.

You, the reader are probably just another average kid with an average life in an average school. And all you ever have to worry about is parents, homework, school, and many other things. Charlie is the same, he likes to live a regular everyday life. However, as he goes through school pretending that his life is as perfect as can be, you find that he has very big family troubles at home, which affects him, his parents, and his siblings. Yet, through and through, Charlie shows that he is a very affectionate guy who has a very loving bond with him and his family members. Charlie is from the book,"The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chysolsky and throughout this essay, you will understand exactly how Charlie has a lovingconnection with his family.
One example of how Charlie has a loving connection with his family is that one day, when Charlie was watching an old romance tale on TV with his Dad, at the falling action of the film, Charlie, for the first time in his life, saw his father cry, and when the father saw that Charlie was watching him, the father asked Charlie to keep it a secret between him and Charlie. Charlie agreed and his father let him sit on his lap till the end of the movie. This shows that even though Charlie's father can sometimes get angry and violent to the fact that he has slapped Charlie throughout several occasions in the ok, he had expressed his true feelings to Charlie, and Charlie was completely fine with knowing how sensitive his father really was proving how much of a loving bond they have.
Also, another example of how Charlie has a loving connection with his family is that when Charlie overheard his sister on the phone with her boyfriend, and told him she was pregnant( just so you know, his sister was only sixteen) Charlie confronted her about what he overheard and his sister
started to cry. Now another thing you should know about Charlie's sister is that she is sometimes very mean to Charlie and in this case, Charlie could have left to his mother and father about her pregnancy in order to get back at her for all she had ever done to him. But instead, he went to her, and hugged her till she finally stopped crying. This can show you exacly how affectionate and caring Charlie can be. His sister was very mean and obnoxious to him throughout his entire life and yet he found
kindness in his heart to comfort her. This shows how much of a loving connection they have with each other.
Finally, one more example of how Charlie has a loving connection with his family is that because when his Great Aunt came to move into his parents home, Charlie was curious to why she had moved there, he asked many times to the point that his Aunt had gotten sad about it to start crying. Then one
day, when his mother explained to him why his Aunt moved( I'm not going to tell you why or else I would spoil the surprise, let's just say that it wasn't good) he went to his Aunt and told her he was sorry for always asking and was sorry for why she left. His Aunt went to tears and gave him a big hug, showing how Charlie was able to admit that he did the wrong thing and that he was sorry for what happened to his Aunt. Proving that he has a loving connection to his family.
In conclusion, yes, you ,ay think that Charlie's connection with his family is just like any other family, but some people may think that Charlie's family is different, even though Charlie had observed his family for years, almost feeling sorry for their troubles and worries, Charlie had always
been there to cheer them up at their best and their worst times. This proves how much of a loving connection their is between Charlie and his family.
